About Joyce
Born and raised in the culturally-rich border town of Laredo, Texas, Joyce’s birthplace shaped her entire life—instilling in her a love of art, expression and style. From a young age, her passion for the arts was lived out through dance, which gifted her movement, expression and discipline. And her parents—who locked eyes and hearts at a jewelry store where her father worked—lived out a love story that gave her both a family and inspiration to design.
From Joyce’s earliest memories, jewelry played a distinct role in her life. When her parents were married, Joyce’s father—a jewelry designer in his own right—gifted her mother custom jewelry for special occasions, including the birth of their daughter. From then on, he gifted Joyce unique pieces throughout her childhood, each of which told its own story. His designs inspired her creative spirit and that spirit led her to New York City.
At the age of eighteen, Joyce set out to take on the real estate world. She built a brokerage firm from the ground up, making her mark in the industry with her business savvy. Despite her success, Joyce’s soul longed for more—more creativity and more opportunities to pair her business acumen with her passion for jewelry. Joyce & Gems was born out of that passion—founded at time in Joyce’s life when she realized a spiritual awakening, experiencing the powers of the metaphysical form in her own life. From those experiences, she chose to lean into her intuition and pursue a career that set her soul on fire. Joyce and Gems’ collections are designed with a commitment to both Joyce’s heritage and an understanding of the metaphysical world— the power of the universe and an appreciation for how stones drive emotion and action to shape the human experience. Today, as the brand evolves, Joyce continues to follow Mother Earth’s lead to inspire her choices in unique-cut gems and diamonds to bring forth all the beauty and power each stone has in store for those who wear them. Joyce & Gems is a labor of love, capturing all the cosmic powers that led Joyce to this reality of designing, creating and sharing her art with the world. She’s built a collection for women, by women, capturing all the facets and moods that make us who we are and who we long to be—and this brand is only the beginning.
